Our Story
We live in a visual culture. At no point in history have we been so immersed in images that seek to define who we are as human beings. Film and media help us to make sense of the world in which we live. Yet, visual literacy and appreciation are rarely considered. Our cultural production, in large, has turned into noise that fragments people and challenges our ability to connect. Cultural Images grew out of a need to cultivate meaningful discussions and to celebrate various cultural perspectives through the visual arts. We value creating spaces that stimulate conversations around the history and diversity of Black culture through a Black lens. Our sense of humor, wisdom, inclusiveness, curiosity, and desire to make the world a better place lives in the work that we do.
